Accommodation
Generally we have booked where we can at 3* level. This is an average level of hotel accomodation. The stars refer to facilities available. This is a spiritual not a luxury tour. We are booking at this level to meet fixed costs, and to make the Tour costs as manageable as possible. A standard twin room should have two single beds but may have a double and a sofa bed instead. If this happens, then perhaps swop around at the next hotel with your roommateand take this in the spirit of European travel. Most of the time we are not in our bedrooms and when we are, we are sleeping. Rooms in Europe are smaller, less modern and more expensive than in N.Z. Single rooms are often smaller than other rooms. If you are a single traveller and request shared accomodation to reduce costs, there is no guarantee of compatibility. Any shifts from a twin room to a single room after the tour begins, is at your own expense and by your own arrangements and will be more expensive than paying an initial single supplement. Also, a single room may not be available at the time you may wish to change. If you know, for example, that you are a light sleeper, or snoring could be an issue, or that you may need a good nights sleep or extended private time for reflection, it is better to request a single room at registration. . A single traveller will need to pay a single supplement. Tea and coffee making facilities in bedrooms are the exception rather than the rule. However, there are likely to be facilities downstairs for all to use. Flights Flights are not included in the tour price. An extended validity time could be helpful in case you need to rebook. It is the passengers responsibility to ensure they arrive to the start of the tour on time, or they will need to make their own arrangements to catch up with the rest of the tour. Airport transfers are not included in the Tour price. Luggage The space in the back of the van is not excessive so a modest sized suitcase - no more than 23 kg- would be appreciated. You will probably need a day bag as well. Tips Tips are not included in the tour fees for all local services, restaurants and tour guides. Tipping is normal practice. The amount is usually 10% if you have received good service but is not compulsory. Health The Tour will include walking for some of the sightseeing, and includes steps, stairs and uneven surfaces. You will need to be reasonably fit. Check whether you need innoculations to enter country.. Smoking Smoking is not permitted in the van. Some hotels have floors for guests who smoke. You may not be able to smoke in public places (recent law). Meals Some hotels will serve breakfast as part of their costs to the Tour and some will cost breakfast separately which is not part of the Tour. We will advise you which are the hotels where you will need to buy your own breakfast. Lunches - let's look out for a cafe as we are exploring or driving. We may have dinner in some hotels some evenings and at other times you may like to eat in local restaurants and explore local cuisine. If you have special requirements, you may need to check on the Internet or email the hotel to see if your requirements can be met. Activities We include entrance fees to our selected sites. Problems Please talk to our Tour Manager to resolve any problems promptly. |
